Guns

I just wanted to get my thoughts on guns down on paper. All of my statements are meant to refer to things like handguns, not necessarily fully automatic "assault rifles". I'm not sure what I think about those.

Gun legislation

Since criminals by definition don't follow the law, gun legislation only serves to limit the rights of law-abiding citizens to own guns. If you try to take away guns from the people, only the criminals will have guns.

Self defense

People think handguns are a bad thing. I can't imagine why. Seriously, a handgun is the best tool for self defense that's been invented. It's the best "equalizer". I'm 5'2" and 110-115 pounds. I'd feel much safer if I were 6'5" and 250 pounds of muscle. But if I have a handgun I'd at least have a chance against someone that size if I were to be attacked. I'd expect women to feel the same way, since they have to be worried more than I do of being raped. Women often used to carry little guns in their purses, but don't anymore.

Anyway, this wasn't meant to be eloquent Eventually I'll get good quotes here, expand on this, etc. For now, I just wanted to create the page and start getting thoughts down. That's why I wanted a wiki
