My poor wife got shocked at lunch one time when I ran off to the bathroom to wash my hands, and a stranger made the assumption that I was her son, and I'm even older than she is (by 2 1/2 weeks). At the time, I'd only been married for less than a year, while she had been married and had four kids (two sets of twins) in 18 years. I know these kids have aged me in the short 5 years I've been stepfather!

And I still look younger. I don't think I pass as her son anymore.

This is because we are constantly being told by society that younger and prettier is better. We try very hard to look our best and it is very upsetting when you spend two hours getting ready to go out and have on your best outfit and make-up that someone thinks you are older than you really are. Besides why does it matter? Isn't it just a number anyway?
