I started off using the WAMP bundles, but to be honest (on Windows at least), installing and setting up the components individually is very straightforward these days (all of them come with Setup utilities and only Apache/PHP needs some very minor hand tweaking to get it running).
Upgrading a single component is much easier if they are installed individually too.
