2. O'Reilly ONLamp Blog: A sysadmin tip that could save you hours.... Basically, always ensure that you have a working system before you make changes. I try to take this principle to heart. For instance, every single program I start starts as "hello world" (usually, "alo!" ) and try to always move carefully from a working program to another working program.
