I'm a Tennessee-an

I just today finished the last bits of administrivia needed to complete my move to the Volunteer State. I just got my car inspected and registered, and got my license plate (would be plates, but they only require a back plate here). I got the new pretty green one (new as of this month... I'm glad I waited!) instead of the old icky one.

I also registered to vote and relinquished my voting rights in NJ. I got my driver's license back in July, so that's pretty much everything. I guess I still have to get new tags for my dog, and I still do want to get a concealed carry permit Smiley

And, now I can Smiley That post coming later...

It's a good thing I got this taken care of today, 'cause otherwise I'd have had to have taken half a day off to get all this done.

So... ARE you a Tenesseean, or are you moving there to study or work or something?

Tennessee is now my home. I've moved here "permanently". I originally came down for a job (which turned out to be a complete bust -- I may post a little about that later), but I didn't just come down for the job... I'd wanted to move to the South anyway. Nashville is great. Oh, and I've since gotten another job Smiley

Well, I read your blog once in a while, and I don't think I've ever read anything about Tennessee before, so I got just a little bit curious about it. That's all. Smiley

Hey congrats... all that paperwork is a pain. When I moved to Colorado, it took forever to get my license, plates, etc mostly because I had to wait over four hours at each place.
But yeah, that's a beautiful license plate. Nicer than anything I've seen out there so far.

I really love Tennessee. There are only two downsides:

1. Being in the heart of the Bible belt, you can find yourself having to deal with the most hypocritical, degenerate, and superstitious mongrels on the planet.

2. We are land locked. I miss the ocean, and I have a real hankering for whale hunting, perhaps because I am reading Moby Dick and studying Japanese at the same time.

"Towards thee I roll, thou all-destroying but unconquering whale; to the last I grapple with thee; from hell's heart I stab at thee; for hate's sake I spit my last breath at thee."

I live in Japan, why are you studying that? We just had whale meat for school lunch last week! lol. must be "research". I must say it is damn tasty though

I have always liked the Japanese culture and its martial arts. A few weeks ago I started reading books about Dr. Demings management methods which the Japanese adopted to become an industrial giant and manufacturers of some of the best goods in the world.

Plus, Japanese investors were featured on one of the best episodes of "Arrested Development".

I really enjoy learning new languages. I really hope to travel Japan in the not too distant future.

yeah, I live in Japan. Its a really nice place to visit. Not such a great place to work, there are many prejudices against foreign workers. But the people are great in general, very friendly and helpful.
