  1. False judge makes mockery of case for 'intelligent design' by Phyllis Schlafly:

The atheist evolutionists would not have made such a big case out of the four innocuous paragraphs ordered by the Dover school board unless they were pursuing an ideological cause. They converted the trial into a grand inquisition of religious beliefs instead of addressing science or the statement to be read to students.

In an era of judicial supremacy, Judge Jones' biased and religiously bigoted decision is way over the top. His decision ... shows that the evolutionists cannot defend their beliefs on the merits; they can only survive by censoring alternate views.

  2. Whedon on Firefly's cancellation by Fox (via WHEDONesque):

"You know, I've talked to other people who have created many more successful shows than I have and they've gone through the same thing," Whedon says. "I think in my case it was particularly egregious. I think I was basically a victim of what I like to call 'dumb people' -- people who are never going to trust anything except what they already know."

  3. It looks like Dave Winer is still abusing the referrer header after all these years:

You may see references to this page in your referer logs, that's because every time a NewsRiver user checks your feed, the HTTP request includes a link to this page as its referer.

    How annoying.

test57 - Anne’s Weblog about Markup & Style:

You really want to bookmark test57. It is the answer to all footer at the bottom while using CSS instead of a table with height="100%" (you there, put away that gun) problems you might have. (What a sentence.) I have used it a few times over the past few years and found it extremely useful and simple.

Ooh, maybe I'll de-table-ify my site now.

Update: Hah, I'm still right. Test57 doesn't show off why that layout breaks compared to tables. And... I tested it and I'm right. Try assigning a background color to the "nav" element in test57 and see what happens. Lame.

Anyway, there are other css-based column layouts I've seen that might not have this problem... maybe I'll revisit this later.
