#7, don't you live in Tennessee now? If so, hiking should be a million times better than around New Jersey. You should be within reasonable driving distance of Smokey Mountain National Park. They have a ton of hiking trails there. And if you are on the eastern side of Tennessee, you are also within driving distance of the Appalachian Trail which runs the border of Tennessee and North Carolina.

All of that's on the eastern side of Tennessee. I'm in Nashville, which means hours of driving to anyplace over there. It's doable, but it'd be a whole day trip. In NJ, I'm talking I was about 10 minutes away from these great parks. But I agree, the mountains over there are beautiful. I visited a friend in NC once and we took a drive over to TN through the Blue Ridge mountains... gorgeous!
Now, right next to me I have the Warner parks which are very nice and I'm grateful for them, but they don't compare to what I had just 10-15 minutes away when I was in NJ.

Heh, yeah, surprisingly. Not great sushi by any means, but decent sushi that's worth having.

Keith,
Pizza: Roma's pizza on Elliston and Pizza Perfect at 21st and blakemore
Coffee: Bongo Java on Belmont (right by the university) and Frothy Monkey (on 18th?)
Delis and Bagels: Sorry...
24 hour coffee shop: Cafe Coco off Elliston and 16th or 17th (it has a big open sign on the roof at night, easy to spot)
Sushi: Ken's (21st or division, right by vandy) and Samurai on Elliston
Hiking: Tons of places! Check out the state parks outside Nashville.
NYC alternative: Haha we have Memphis!
It's a really friendly city though and there's always a great local band playing somewhere downtown - look at the flyers.
Hope you like it here!

Hey Raghav, a belated thanks for the info.

I'm surprised at the lack of "coffee shops", but lots of those (diners, delis and pizza) apply to DC.
I also miss good delivery Chinese food.
Dude ... you blocked my IP?!?! WTF?

I was thinking about that too! I haven't found any good Chinese down here yet. Haven't tried too hard though.

I didn't block it... I go off spamhaus or whatever.

Oh, we go through a new firewall at work now ... I wonder if that's why. My apologies.

New Jersey is pretty great. It's a beautiful state with something for everybody.
I've lived in NJ for 10+ years, having grown up in New York and gone to university in New England.
