2. Hyperthreading hurts server performance, say developers - ZDNet UK News (via Digg):

   Ocks then detailed testing which showed this behaviour where a system thread — in this case one cleaning out blocks of disk cache memory — is running at the same time as worker threads. "With Intel HT technology, logical processors share L1 & L2 caches. As you would guess [this] behaviour can potentially trash L1 & L2 caches," he said.

   D'oh, so using hyperthreading effectively halves your cache sizes? (When different programs are being executed at the same time)

4. Steven Den Beste has been posting a bunch on OSM's recent issues (permanent link should be here once he makes one). From the 18th:

   OSM is acting more and more like post-Memogate CBS by the minute. "Wait a minute! What's this? We're supposed to be the watchers, not the watched!...

   Regardless of the details of the matter, the very fact that this type of dialogue is going on makes the whole situation extremely ironic.
