You might as well link to the site, since it'll scroll. And, it probably is, but I did anyway.

I was going to reply to Joe in an email, but figured I might as well post here too. Joe says,
"The point is that society already believes to some degree that it is acceptable to murder disabled people."
I can't help but think he is guilty of painting his personal struggle on the world, here.
In particular, the issue is not whether we can/should take advantage of disabled people who cannot speak for themselves. It is whether someone has a right to refuse post mortem treatment [and perhaps whether Mr. S was lying--the courts believe him, and we trust them to be unbiased].
Yes, post mortem. Terry Schiavo died long ago. I would have expected a more mature attitude from Joe, as a junior, but this is exactly the reason more basic science needs to be objectively taught in public education. The only thing that distinguishes us is our consciousness, and Terry's capability for it was destroyed many years ago.
These are my key objections.

Sounds like a lynch mob howling and muttering outside my front door, most of what I hear you saying about Terri Schiavo.
So she died a long time ago? Just last year I heard her say, to her mother, 'Hi, Mom.' Yes, it took her about 8 seconds to say it, but some mornings it takes me that long to say, 'Hi, whoever you are' to people who call me real early.
If you can kill someone who says, 'Hi, Mom,' I hope you stay outta my neighborhood.
FYI: I ain't no true believer in anything but people power, and here we see its dark side.

Terri Schiavo is disabled NOT dead! Have you looked at the information online and at Terri's family website? The videos clearly portray a woman that "IS" very much aware of people and her surroundings. The judge sitting on this case should not be preciding on this case... He's nothing more then a local judiciary. Why is a local judiciary sitting on a case of this importance? The fact that a convicted murderer has more rights to appeal and access to the court system and Terri doesn't ... is an outrage. Personally I think this judge is trying to write himself into the history books. The Nazi SSI is on the rise again. This is how they thought.... and remember the results of that atrocity and the millions of innocent victims around the world when Hitler was in power? It seems we never learn from history and the mistakes of the past.
The thing that makes me the angriest about Terri's situation is her family has stated time and again they want to care for her and told her husband and the courts they wanted Terri... her husband could keep the money. There have been quotes in the news that Mr. Schiavo has made statements to the effect "When is this B**ch going to die?"... the man has been living with another woman and has 2 children by her. He didn't even start this whole ordeal for Terri until after he was awarded the money "for her care". Yeah right... very little effort has been made by that man to care for Terri. He has blocked every attempt to seek medical and rehabilative services for her... with the help of our United States Court system.
The saddest part of all this... I spent 6 years of my life living and working with brain damaged and developmentally disabled adults... They are loving, caring people who contribute to society through what we receive from them... Love, friendship and loyalty. They give of their hearts and time without thought as to what they may get in return. And sadder still is Terri's murder (YES MURDER!) through the use of our government court system sets a precedence for future cases... What's next? Alzheimer patients? the elderly? We already abort unwanted babies because they are an inconvenience. This Country is on a path of destruction. The future of this Country is at stake. If our Fore Fathers could see what has become of the Country they founded with so much promise of Freedom... They would be angry and disappointed that the Freedom and Rights of the individual are so easily set aside.
Terri's rights as a human being and a disabled person were never considered... a statement made by Michael Schiavo that she once said she wouldn't want to live like that... Nothing in writing... stands up in our courts as evidence.
What really makes me sick at heart is that our government has so arbitrarily set aside the rights of the individual because she was an inconvenience to her husband and this Judge Greer. Not to her family... not to her friends... it all comes down to money. Money that Michael Schiavo has no access to... unless Terri were dead. Well Mr. Schiavo you got what you wanted... the money... I hope you and Judge Greer throughly enjoy it... because my experience in life is that what goes round... comes round. Someday you will be at the mercy of other people and I trust that the Almighty God give you what you have so richly earned... the fruits of your earthly labor.
