Reviewing the posts from about the month before the Iraqi elections to the present suggests a qualitative change is taking place... Two more months will reveal whether a trend against the insurgents has actually been established. In that event, its political effect once that perception filters down to the mainstream media readers will be interesting to watch. There will probably be some damnation through faint praise, but in general it will be met by a change of subject.

It was funny, there are anti-war posts up around my school, and they were quoting from some NY Times article. I read it and it seemed overly pessimistic and pretty out of touch with reality (even for the NY Times). Almost surprisingly, the poster cited the date of the Times piece, and I laughed when I noticed it was from January 17th, shortly before the Iraqi election.

Sleep!

Oh man I am going to sleep SO much this weekend!!

I don't have anything immediately due next week either, so I get some leeway on things.

Oh, on the plus side of part of the semi-craziness of this week is that I rented my first car ever. But, oh how I loathe Toyotas!

By the way, does anyone know if automatics do something to take you out of gear when you take your foot off the gas pedal? In the few automatics I've driven in recent history I get the feeling that they pull back much less than my other car does with my foot off the pedal in 5th gear going at highway speeds.

Update: And, I'm home for the weekend. I'm itching for this semester to be over.
