Sam Ruby's ETCON 2005 presentation made my head hurt. I did the Laura Ingraham groan a few times. What makes this all worse is that almost everything he discusses has a reasonable rationale, but it all combines into a big mess. Via Sam Ruby.

Or rather had a reasonable rationale. Some of those things are just plain broken, like charsets and HTTP. I particularly groaned at Mozilla's behaviour when it got gzipped data back containing a <meta> tag.

The part about Mozilla refetching the page, or Apache serving back the partial gzip content instead of the partial content gzipped? [Edit: I groaned there too]
