Slashdot | The New C Standard

Slashdot | The New C Standard:

At a very late stage Addison Wesley decided not to publish my book, 'The New C Standard: An economic and cultural commentary'. Now that the copyright issues have been sorted out I am making the pdf freely available... One major new angle is using the results from studies in cognitive psychology to try and figure out how developers comprehend code.

That last bit is what I'm most interested in. I wonder if they show an advantage for the One True Brace Style. Smiley

Update: My goodness, the article says that the book is "1616 pages long and written over the course of several years". What a disappointment it must be for the author that it's not being published.

Update: Heh, from the book:

The examples in this book are generally intended to illustrate some corner of the language. As a general rule it is considered good practice for authors to give examples that readers should follow. Unless stated otherwise, the examples in this book always break this rule.
