It's such a fine line between stupid and clever. – David St. Hubbins (This is Spinal Tap)

Interesting chess game

Here's a position from an interesting game I played with my friend Justin:

Chess position

(Now I can throw away the napkin it's on.) The last two moves were n. ... Qa5 n+1. 0-0-0, and it's black's move.

I was black and we played from this position a few times, and I won every time. Up until this position I thought the game was pretty well matched, but then I kept winning by launching a queenside attack with my pawns (starting with n+1. ... c5) and pushing away his queen and his knight. I'm interested in how the game plays out after n+1. ... c5 n+2. Nxe5, but my friend never tried that line. I have to stick this position in a program and see what it does.

  1. Glenn links to Malcolm Gladwell's Blink: The Power of Thinking Without Thinking. Turns out he's the same Gladwell who wrote The Naked Face a few years ago, which I've never forgotten. I have to buy all his books now.

Update: Here's an article about him from the NY Times, via PoliPundit. Also, I've corrected Gladwell's name, which I originally had wrong.
