Any sufficiently complicated C or Fortran program contains an ad hoc, informally specified, bug-ridden, slow implementation of half of... – Philip Greenspun (Greenspun's Tenth Rule)

  2. Winds of Change.NET: Anti-War Questions. I've seen that page linked around a lot lately, but didn't follow the link until I saw it on Donald Sensing's site. He comments on the first question:

What [he] seems not to realize is that the Left does not support democracy and in fact is inimical to it. So right off the bat the question assumes that the Left and the rest of us have a common regard for democracy that is not actually there.

  3. TextDrive Community Forum / 7-Feb-05 Slowdowns. It looks like I picked a good time to move off of HM Smiley

I didn't happen to notice any of the problems on HM though, and there's nothing on their forums about it (though they have the unfortunate habit of clearing out their emergency forums -- maybe they deleted stuff on their main forums too?). Anyone else notice Insta, LGF, and others down over the past day?

  4. Teresa Heinz drops 'Kerry'. Sheesh, liberals can't be honest about anything. Her husband fabricates major events of his life... and Heinz wasn't even honest about her own name. Of course, it snuck out during the campaign that her legal name remained Heinz even though she was calling herself Heinz-Kerry (temporarily, it seems).

  6. Belmont Club: After the Elections:

If Gerecht proves correct in the coming months, the American story in Iraq will be an example of how tactical setbacks may be offset by correct strategic judgement. The question of whether it was right to deal with Chalabi or Allawi may in the end be dominated by the issue of whether it was right to trust the Iraqi people to select its leader. If that judgement is correct it is possible to be wrong in all else; if wrong nothing will avail.

  7. Miracle shot at college game stuns crowd. I had heard about the shot, but it's incredible to watch. Via.

Update: Here's a direct link to the first video, and here's a video of him making the shot again on live television the next day. Both videos are WMV, and both are via Ace & TJ.com. They don't have permalinks.
