This is the nvidia problem I'm now having

This is exactly the nvidia problem I'm now having. Maybe when I figure this out it will help explain why I never got it working properly under Gentoo either. Only, I'm not sure at all what to try now. (For reference, here's the NVidia readme.)

Two important bits of info are that /proc/driver/nvidia/agp/status says "Disabled", and /proc/interrupts doesn't list my video card.
