How to install the JDK on Ubuntu

These directions on how to install the JDK in Ubuntu worked for me. I used the commands at the bottom of the page and began with Sun's JDK binary. The browser plugin, however, was installed at ...j2sdk1.5-sun/jre/plugin... not ...j2sdk1.5-sun/plugin..., and didn't work when I followed their directions even after correcting for the location. I'll do that later.
