Whereof one cannot speak, thereof one must be silent. – Ludwig Wittgenstein (Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus)

  1. I found this neat flag-waving smiley somewhere a while ago. I saved it on my desktop but forgot to save where I saw it. In any case...

Fabrizio Quattrocchi

As yet another hostage is taken by terrorists in Iraq, who will no doubt be brutally murdered despite her blubbering pleas, I'd like to honor Fabrizio Quattrocchi, the Italian hostage, killed on April 14th, who died like a man. As Mark Steyn wrote (linked earlier):

... consider Fabrizio Quattrocchi, murdered in Iraq on April 14th. In the moment before his death, he yanked off his hood and cried defiantly, “I will show you how an Italian dies!” He ruined the movie for his killers. As a snuff video and recruitment tool, it was all but useless, so much so that the Arabic TV stations declined to show it.

If all those kidnapped in Iraq showed similar defiance, the hostage taking would stop. I honor Fabrizio Quattrocchi, a better man than most.

Terrorism's Silent Partner at the UN

lgf: Terrorism's Silent Partner at the UN. So, the UN voted to condemn terrorism, while intentionally leaving the word "terrorism" undefined.

This reminds me of when I read up on the Roe v. Wade decision and found out that they decided the case while explicitly choosing not to ask the question about when life begins.

Update: Excellent, Matt Wretchard has a post about this (to read).

Charles Krauthammer: Kerry's false plan for peace

Charles Krauthammer: Kerry's false plan for peace (via LGF). Oh my gosh. Krauthammer is making exactly the same point my friend Sean made a few weeks (months?) ago. Sean mentioned Kerry's statement that he has "cards" to play with our "allies", and Sean bet that one of those cards is Israel.

Update: As Paul Deacon at Power Line points out, some of the other "cards" are most likely submitting the US to the Kyoto treaty and the International Criminal Court.

Alex King's Tasks

I've been intending to install Alex King's Tasks program for a while. I finally installed it after dealing with some server administration and installation issues, and I have to say... it's fantastic.

I may come up with criticisms as I continue to use it, though all the ones I have so far are either remedied in the current 2.0 version or will be soon.

In any event, I'm in love with this program.

  1. This, via Drudge, says that Clinton wants to be the head of the UN. Duh.
