Videos I'd like to watch

So that I don't have to keep trying to think of what they are, here are a bunch of videos I'd like to watch:

  1. Our Oldest Enemy: A History of America's Disastrous Relationship with France:

France is often called America's oldest ally because it helped defeat the British at Yorktown. The reality is different: From the French and Indian Wars to the reign of Napoleon to the war in Iraq, France has demonstrated that it is in fact America's oldest enemy.

I have to read the excerpt. This is probably a book I'd like to get to someday when I have the least bit of spare time.

  2. Voices of Iraq "offers a unique opportunity to hear the diverse perspective of Iraqis on issues at the forefront of a global debate over war, terror, and the prospects for democratic reform — directly from the street. VOICES OF IRAQ is a ground breaking documentary that does what no other film or news organization has done before."

  3. crankycoder - vlibxml2 - memory managed XML with XPath (to read). Also gotta check out Pyrex, which he mentions.

  4. dotvoid.com: Remote scripting with javascript (to read), via Keith

More evidence Osama is dead

The Belgravia Dispatch has more evidence, or rather an analysis of existing evidence, that OBL is dead, which is what many of us have thought for a while now. Via IP.

Update (same day): Counter argument at Winds of Change (to read), via Lorie at PoliPundit, who writes:

I have been going by the common sense and gut feel method of forming my opinion about Osama. Common sense dictates that if he were still alive, and he truly wanted people to believe that he was alive, why wouldn’t he be releasing videos of himself holding up recent copies of the New York Times, or at least the Tora Bora Times, with the headlines prominently visible? If the reason he hasn’t released such a video is because he and his protectors aren’t close enough to civilization to have access to a recent paper or video equipment, well, then he is almost as good as dead.

Update (10/23): Check out this great comment over at Roger Simon's site by someone explaining how he thinks OBL is dead.

  1. Programming Ruby: class Continuation, via Adam. This thing did more to make me understand continuations than a lot of other things. Now if I could only understand exactly how they're implemented.
