I can only hope Guilliani runs, except with a running mate of McCain. I think that would be more effective than running with Rice, even if she is a black woman.
The dems would certainly like Obama, but I don't know how realistic that would be. Could be interesting.
I'm currently just perusing my blogroll right now, noting how all the Democratic weblogs are predicting some serious Doom-and-Gloom. Too bad this time they can't claim the election was "stolen" because Bush won the popular vote this time... they'll probably try anyway.
Check out the single most... well... http://www.boingboing.net/2004/11/03/kerry_concedes.html
I've said it a number of times, I'm a Democrat who doesn't like Democrats. Maybe I just enjoy being full of self-loathing, who knows? I vote Democratic on most everything else, except for the Presidential race.
I do, however, share the fears many have of more conservative Supreme Court Justice appointments, which is going to be a huge issue when the time comes. No getting around that, though.

Uh, how'd you comment on such a wrong post? In any case, I'll move the thread (from where you first put it).

OH! Now I know what happened. I'll fix that
I actually wondered if that would happen when I created a post with a numeric slug, but I mentally ran though my code and thought it wouldn't. (I was wrong
)

Obama? That sounds a lot like Osama. Since when are these kind of names popular in the US?
Keith (http://keithdevens.com/) wrote:
Fixed! My weblog software currently makes it impossible to have a post with a numeric slug. If it has a numeric slug it assumes it's the entry id, and forwards you to the entry with that id.
I could make it say "if the slug is a number, assume it's an entry id, so get the entry, but if the date of the entry doesn't match the date in the URL then assume that it's a slug and fetch that entry instead.", but that's a little too much magic for my taste, and it makes it impossible to have an entry with a slug that is identical to the id of another entry on the same day. It's funky, so I'm at least currently leaving it so that a number in the URL is always assumed to be an entry id.
So, I changed the slug of this entry from "2008" to "election-2008".

Martijn, Barack Obama is actually Barack Obama Jr. after his Kenyan father. His first name is Swahili.

Thanks for the link, Keith.
Well, that would certainly be an interesting bunch of candidates:
white woman/black man against white man/black woman.

We can only hope Hilary Clinton will NOT run, or at least get the nomination. To be honest, if I saw McCain on the Republican ticket, it would difficult for me to vote Democratic in the next election. I love Obama but I agree that its still too early for him and I don't think we've seen the end of Edwards.
Keith (http://keithdevens.com/) wrote:
I think Edwards is done on the national stage. Stick a fork in him!
I would not like McCain on any ticket. I might agree with you all on it being too early for Obama, but A. Edwards seems to be proof to the contrary, and B. Obama has more experience in government than Edwards did anyway.

What's your beef with McCain?
Keith (http://keithdevens.com/) wrote:
I don't like McCain. I get a bad feeling personally about him, he's more liberal than I'd like (he's one of the trifecta of Republicans who often sides with the Democrats), and I view him as opportunistic.
Ken (http://www.kbuonforte.com/blog/) wrote:
Maybe thats why I like him. :-)
M. Bean wrote:
The reason I like McCain is because he's a liberal republican.
That's also why I think they might try to convince him to run in the VP slot in 08 -- to make the Republican ticket more desireable to democrats who aren't hardcore on the party line, or to woo the moderate undecideds, who historically break at least slightly in favor of the democrats.

That'd be quite interesting! You'd have both Democrats (especially Obama) and Republicans (Giuliani) I could see myself voting for (if I was an American). I'd prefer McCain to Rice: I like him, and I've never liked Rice.

Given that a Senate term is 6 years, I wouldn't be too sure about Obama on the ticket that early.
