France says 35-hour week is failing
The 35-hour week came into effect in 1997, as the Socialists' idea for reducing unemployment. Unemployment now is just under 10 percent.
That low, huh? So, they leave out the answer to the obvious question... what was the unemployment rate in 1997?
Update: This article, which it seems was prematurely optimistic about the 35 hour week, states that unemployment reached its peak in 1997 at 12.4%.
Why does Acrobat Reader suck so bad at rendering? Buffer the gosh darn current page and some of the surrounding pages off screen so that it doesn't have to re-render every time I scroll. Damnit!
I just "upgraded" back down to version 4 and it's a little faster. Maybe if I try an even older version it'll be even better
Woo, Enterprise has been renewed. Finally a show I watch gets renewed
This season I've found myself looking forward to watching Enterprise much more than I've looked forward to watching Smallville. Enterprise has been very good this season. But, given that there's no more Angel next year, I guess that means Enterprise will be my favorite show on television? Ugh.
Oh man. I can't believe the Buffyverse is ending this Wednesday. For good! Waaaahh!
David Ellis at Wunderkinder:
I guess it goes to show that in the War on Terror you're either with us or against us - unless you're totally nuts in which case you're doing your own weird thing.
For future reference:
To break out of frames with Javascript:
<script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript">
if(self != top) top.location = location;
</script>
That's the simplest and shortest way I could find, and it should work with any level of nesting of frames.
