Woo, I'm a revolting and deceptive right-wing troll.
Of course, the left-wing "ideological crap" doesn't bother him.
Reynolds links to this great freelance Bush ad that's arguably better than any of the ads Bush himself has produced. It seems the administration has been ineffective at presenting the case for the Bush economy, which from what I understand, is better in many ways and equal in others to the Clinton economy at the same point in his first term. That's why, when people bring up the economy or jobs as reasons why Bush hasn't done a good job, I only view it as a front for some deeper unstated dislike for Bush.
Oh, by the way... IIRC new job numbers come out this Friday. It'll be interesting to see what they show.
Glenn Reynolds has an extremely apt description of U.N. corruption:
A bunch of politicians, with money and power but no accountability -- the big surprise would be if there weren't scandals hiding under every desk. Which is why U.N.-worship is so hard to understand.
Indeed.
Though, U.N.-worship is hard to understand for many other reasons.
Update: This is a great quote, via American Realpolitik (great site)
"I offer my own U.N. resolution. I want the United Nations to condemn Palestinian terrorism, specifically suicide bombers and, most specifically, the use of confused and sad kids for that purpose. It's pretty simple: If you cannot condemn the murder of innocents, especially by children, then you have no business condemning anything else. In the undiplomatic language of my old neighborhood, put up or shut up."
When I first wrote this post I started listing my "many other reasons" why U.N.-worship is inexplicable. I wasn't up to the task of enumerating all the reasons, so I left it without giving reasons... people can think of plenty on their own. But one of the things I cited before I backed off was the U.N.'s almost universal condemnation of Israel and silence in condemning Palestinian terrorism. Ooh, and here's an appropriate political cartoon.
Eric Lippert is planning to implement a scripting language a bit at a time, publicly, on his blog.
...I got to thinking last night that maybe it would be interesting to develop a script engine from scratch, describing every interface as I implement it, giving some of the design history behind the interfaces, etc, etc, etc. I could start it in C++ and then see whether there were ways to make it work well in managed code, etc.
I could then blog a little bit of the code every few days. This would keep me in blog topics for weeks, certainly. Probably months. All of this stuff happens in my spare time, and I have precious little of that, particularly given the number of bugs I have to fix before the Whidbey beta. But I'll see what I can do.
I'm not sure that a piecemeal daily blog approach is even the right way to handle this kind of material, but I'm willing to make the experiment.
It'll be really interesting to watch if he follows through. Via LtU.
