Of all tyrannies a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may... – C.S. Lewis

Woo hoo, they got the bastard

Sheik Yassin, the "spiritual leader" of Hamas, who also happens (oops, should be past-tense... happened) to look like Saruman from Lord of the Rings, has been killed. Way to go Israel. More please.

Update: Josh has pictures.

Update: More pictures. Watch out... graphic. Also, I'm surprised I'm taking flak for celebrating the death of this evil man. As Charles points out, this is "an event any decent human being should be applauding".

Question about Kerry

Completely serious question... why do people believe that John Kerry being in the Navy and earning some medals 30 years ago qualifies him to be President of the United States?

Of course I'd say it's a "plus" on his resume... it's better than if he hadn't done that. But, to me what would seem much more important to focus on is his last three decades as a politician, and particularly what kind of leadership he's shown during his tenure, yet most of what he and his supporters seem to focus on is something he did over a third of a century ago.

It just seems very strange to me... that's all. Maybe some Kerry supporters would like to indicate why it carries so much weight?

Of course, the cynic in me cries out "Because they don't want to focus on his ultra-liberal record in Congress"... but I don't want to assign that type of intellectual dishonesty to his supporters. It may be true, but I certainly would try not to assume that.

Ok, time for a mini rant. Since when did it become the president's responsibility to "create jobs"? I think that's one of the ways the left has framed the debate in terms favorable to them... it makes it seems like creating jobs is the business of the government instead of the private sector.

And, to Kerry supporters: How exactly will Kerry "create jobs"? By raising taxes and increasing regulation? Anything else?

Firewall security hole allows worm to overwrite boot sector!

If I'm reading the Slashdot summary correctly, instead of the firewall software protecting your computer, certain products had a security hole that let others overwrite your boot sector. That's pretty funny in a sick sort of way. If you have any of that software I'd recommend patching it.
