You could implement decent AIM/OSCAR support using my joscar project. (the project is at http://joust.kano.net) This would let you support AIM Secure IM, a rate limiting bar, AOL Proxied file transfer/direct IM, Get File, and a bunch of other things Trillian doesn't support (the last time I checked anyway).

Can't help you here... but, I just thought of something very evil you could help me with: write something that'll go through my 'Might Buy' playlist in iTunes (comprised of links to songs that you can purchase, with full artist/album/song tag info) and automatically look for those songs/download them in Kazaa whenever a new song link is added to the playlist/or whenever I run the app (if I don't want it running all the time). Wha'dya think? Too evil?

You might want to look at http://gaim.sf.net/ which has a bunch of plugins available for it (and I do think its better than trillian myself). But the Windows implementation uses windows GTK which is lame.

I've tried Gaim repeatedly and been very unimpressed with it. Besides being ugly and taking up too much screen space, I've found it to be frequently unstable and not customizable enough. I didn't realize Gaim had plugins though.

Justin, I could probably script something like that for you pretty easily using a combination of Perl and KiXtart I think it'd be fun to write, regardless of whether it's evil. Let me know if you want it.

I'd make one that displayed the song currently playing in iTunes- not winamp since a thing like that already exists.

One of the things that would make IM (Trillian) really useful to me is the ability to send a file to someone I am chatting with. I am a developer who works closely with a support team and a qa team and it is quite often that I need to get them files. Right now, it results in FTP. If Trillian had a simple but secure file transfer plugin, I'd definitely use it more.

It would be good if you picked a file to send and then the other user gets a popup that asks them if they want to accept it and then asks them where to save it.

Michael, I think the chat services Trillian supports all have a file transfer feature. Why then would you need one built into Trillian apart from any IM protocol?

By the way, if you just want a simple file transfer app, you may want to check out Simple Socket File Transfer. I haven't tried it myself, but it looks handy.

How do you do file transfer through Trillian?

Pretty much everywhere there's either a "send file" button or a "send file" entry on a right click menu. Try it out. Also, keep in mind I'm talking about Trillian Pro, not Trillian Lite.

I'd very much like to have a plugin that would show what's playing in my friends' winamps. Of course it would have to be installed on both machines, but otherwise i think it would be quite easy (provided that this info is openly provided by winamp). Whatcha say?

Ever used iChat? A plugin to re-arrange the chat text to how iChat has it would be cool, pretty easy to do too i'd imagine.

Is there anyway to make an alias in Trillian that displays both the artist and song title of a current song in Windows Media Player 10 instead of just the song name?

Well, allot of the feathers that MSN plus offers for MSN would be nice to have in Trillian. Such as a notification when someone opens a conversation with you and an away message that is attached to your nickname when you change you status to away.

i think if you could make a plugin that allowed you to store usefull weblinks so that if you want to tell someone about a web address you could add it your usefull links plugin and then simply click the link and it would insert it into the conversation .........good idea huh???

I would love to see a flexible newsfeed plugin. The current one that trillian offers only does rss 0.91. I am finding more sites that use other rss standards (0.9x and 2.0). I am surprised that Cerulian Studios didnt write a new version when they released the 3.0 version of Trillian.

BECAUSE! that is how trillian will be better supported. its the little neat things that make people choose trillian over something like GAIM. come on people, make things cool! thats why apple is successful (among other things)

Can Some one please point me to a SIMPLE plugin for trillian that is written in C++. please do not point me to the sample plugin that is on the trillian website. or if you know how to make a C++ header file availiable in C# including all of the functions that would be much better thanks

How about a Hello (Google's picture swapping chat program) plugin for Trillian? I got Trillian so I'd be able to do all my chatting in one program, then Hello comes along.

Also, a way to post blog articles from Trillian would be cool, though I suspect protocols will varry from website to website. Blogger would be a good start though. :-)

And while we're at it making suggestions and all, updating the news reader so that it supports Atom would be most excellent.

I'm trying to make a plugin to replace a configurable string with info from Foobar, like the existing winamp plugin and unlike AMIP doesn't require the media player to do it or access the clipboard.

Also, WASTE protocol support would kick some serious arse.

how about custom emotions feature, this has been asking many times but no one seems to have anything action on it.

just wondering the msn messenger protocol using mime format, it may be possible to decode and show those custom emotions sent by msn messenger. it might be a problem send emotions by trillian, but how about just received and display the emotions correctly?

I would like to see a random text selector, that does NOT set your status to AWAY. I like to read people's random thoughts and if there was a way to create a text file of quotes, moods, sayings, funny jokes, etc., and have it appear where your status message normally is. But you would still appear as available to your contacts. Right now I am using the Trillian Status Updater I got from Winamp. Only problem is I can't figure out how to get my random text without setting my status to away...

What I've been looking for is a way to send graphic information on the clipboard through aim. I am always wanting to show someone I am chatting with a section of the screen, and it's easy enough to make small screenshots, but the whole process of pasting into a graphics program, saving the file, finding the file in AIM, and sending it is unwieldy.

Wouldn't it be nice if a program did all of that in the background? Then you could Do something like a Paste Special, and it would set up a file transfer with the image automatically. Yeah! I haven't seen anywhere that this is possible, but it would be very nice.

The itunes/WMP song playing automatically being your away message is an idea all over the net but with no one who has actually done it successfully... I'm sure whomever does it first will quite a bit of traffic to their site.

I have yet to see any plugins that are completely successful for displaying the song being played in Winamp as the Yahoo and AIM away message and the MSN Display Name. I have one right now, that is a plugin for Trillian and gets info from Winamp, that was working for a while, but lately it's been causing Trillian to crash whenever Winamp opens, closes, or goes to the next song, and so I'm hoping to find a new one..

heres my sugguestion....create a plugin for trillian that allows people in your contact list to see what music you are playing...(esp for WinAmp users and as well as the other main (popular) media / audio player.
