Language vs. Platform

Via Tim Bray, Jeff Dillon has some thoughts on .NET and Mono: The libraries.

He highlights an important distinction that not enough people make. Not so long ago I was IMed by someone charging me with inconsistency by saying in some places that PHP sucks and in others that PHP "rocks". I explained the distinction between platform and language, but unfortunately he didn't comprehend.
