I read this bit about EU scandals earlier today at InstaPundit, and now I've just read this post from Steven Den Beste about the obvious contempt one EU beaurocrat has for the voters.
Why anyone in Europe thinks it's attractive to put themselves under a body of unelected beaurocrats is beyond me.
This also highlights another theme for me. I've argued in the past[1] that liberalism is inherently anti-democratic... hence the reliance on judicial activism, rather than on the decision of the voters, to push their agenda.

[1]: unfortunately, I never wound up finishing and posting that weblog entry
I wish I had because I'd be able to reference the quote (heard from a guest on the Sean Hannity show) that spurred me to write and which supported my point
I just read this post about A few problems with blo.gs (which have since been fixed!), so I thought I'd head over to blo.gs and see if there's anything new. I checked the box to be IMed in case of an update, so I'm trying it.
Ok, that didn't work. Trying AIM instead of ICQ... AIM worked.
