You mentioned izArc over a year ago it looks like, the program has been updated and cleaned up: http://www.izsoft.dir.bg/izarc.htm (site is very slow)

I'm checking it out now, seems to do more than 7-zip, and the UI is much nicer.

Of course, you're on linux now, aren't you?
