FindLaw's Writ - Mariner: How the Abusive Protect the Repressive at the U.N. (via IP):
Sudan, Cuba, Saudi Arabia, Zimbabwe, Russia: one thing these countries have in common is that their governments violate human rights flagrantly and systematically. But another thing they share, astonishingly enough, is membership on the U.N. body meant to monitor and prevent human rights violations.
Pakistan, China, Egypt, Congo--the list goes on. When it comes to rights-abusing countries, the 53-member U.N. Commission on Human Rights has plenty of depth.
Why anyone entertains the idea that the United Nations has any moral legitimacy is beyond me.

Bamboo:
Bamboo is a php web application for creating static web sites. Bamboo is fast, lightweight, and does not require a database. It is most often used as a wiki-like knowledge base but with hierarchical navigation. However, bamboo can be used to create almost any kind of website.
Lots have been linking to it on del.icio.us, and it's recommended by Kellan. I wonder how it compares to Lucid CMS (formely Whisper, formerly Pages), which I haven't tried either.

Via Glenn, Mark Steyn and Dave Kopel have more on British Bizarro World, the morally inverted land where law-abiding citizens are punished if they dare to defend themselves from criminals invading their homes.

Well, here's another depressing/shocking poll from Europe. Over 50% of Germans equate IDF with Nazi army (via LGF). It completely blows my mind.

Social Security Reform Can't Wait (to read), by Edward H. Crane at the Cato Institute, via Amy.
I also just read this piece about the social security reform Bush wants (via PP) at the Washington Times -- Harry Reid is complaining that the "fat cats" on Wall St. are going to benefit. Democrats: doesn't that line ever get old? Don't you understand that people in the private sector having more capital is good for the economy? Sigh.
That Democrats are so vocally against the private sector only serves to reinforce the notion we have that they're just socialists.
Meteorologist Likens Fear of Global Warming to 'Religious Belief'. Heard on Rush. Contains great quotes about the nature of science I may later excerpt. (Here's another location for the article in case that one breaks).
I gotta keep an eye out for Richard Lindzen. Here are some other articles that mention him.
