Hmmm... sounds like the work of a grey squirrel: a red squirrel would never do that.

Oh, and what do you think of the new site design over beyond?

Aww, the red squirrel is cute.

what do you think of the new site design

Sexy! Except your permalinks have .cfm cruft. Plus, you don't ping blo.gs. I'd also like it better if your linklog was mixed in with your normal weblog. Whenever people have seperate linklogs I never wind up reading them. Also, I really like your colors. I especially like the hue of the purple and blue links you have; coupled with the orange background they give you a unique color scheme. The drop shadows may be becoming cliché, but they still look good.

Aww, the red squirrel is cute.

Indeed it is, but they're being wiped out over here by the American menace that is the gray squirrel. Grr!

Sexy!

Woohoo!

Except your permalinks have .cfm cruft.

It's partly avoidable, but entails the creation of a rather nasty load of directories. My preferred solution would be to use URL rewriting, but convincing the lads to let me write and put a rewriting DLL on the server isn't easy.

Plus, you don't ping blo.gs.

I've been meaning to do that. If the server was running CFMX rather than CF5, it'd be easy, but as it stands I have to write an XML-RPC client, and either use my pure CF XML parser (none in CF5) or try to get CF talking to MSXML, which is turning out to be more difficult than I'd imagined.

In the meantime, I'm after hacking together a small custom tag to ping them with their more REST-ful interface. That'll probably be enough.

I'd also like it better if your linklog was mixed in with your normal weblog. Whenever people have seperate linklogs I never wind up reading them.

I've debated that with myself, and I've not been able to convince myself that it's worth it. Maybe after I find a way of implementing categories that I'm happy with. I'm torn between using sets and an extra table: using a set column doesn't sit well with the relational purist in me, while the extra table means extra joins, which is just nasty.

I guess I'll have to think about it some more. I might have a way to add it without the need for categories, and which might work with some slight modifications to the current schema, but I'm still a bit torn.

Also, I really like your colors. I especially like the hue of the purple and blue links you have;

Cheers. The blue's the complement of the orange/red used in the navigation. I wanted something that would let the links stand out.

coupled with the orange background they give you a unique color scheme.

On the laptop I'm using right now, the orange comes out a rather nice salmony colour, which is even better!
