An imaginary speech by Tom Ridge

Mike writes:

So I was having a conversation with a friend the other night, and I mentioned how much I like Cheney and Rumsfeld, mostly because they just don’t take a lot of crap from reporters. Once, just once, I’d love to see a press conference that went something like this:

Online RPGs?

Does anyone have any recommendations for online RPGs?

I used to love playing RPGs a long time ago. It strikes me that it has to be fascinating to play an RPG where the NPC's can actually be real people. My favorite aspect of playing Unreal Tournament was that I wasn't just blowing up computer monsters, but I was fighting with "real" people. I assume the same type of fun can be applied to the RPG genre.

Oh, and what the heck are MUDs and MOOs? I've never gotten into them.

Update: I'm asking because I just played a bunch of The Kingdom of Loathing, and I'm now looking around the Avalon site.

  1. Joss Whedon: Savior of the X-Franchise feature by Stephen Lin. Whedon is still a genius.

  2. The Kingdom of Loathing. "The Kingdom of Loathing (or KoL, as it has come to be known by its player base) is a free, comical RPG... KoL is played from the comfort of your browser, and is adorned with a staggering array of stunning hand-drawn images. It is turn-based, which means you get a certain number of turns (Adventures) each day."

  3. Fetal Fotos. Pictures of pre-birth babies.

  4. Browser Cam :: Browser screen captures in any browser, any version, any operating system. Not free, but cool if you need it.

  5. Bald stars. Celebrities photoshopped to be bald. Bizarre.
