Shoot! I forgot to listen to the program. I hope I didn't have to listen live.
Anyway, progressive creationism essentially accepts all the premises of evolution - the world is millions of years old, evolution is true (God "progressively" created mankind through directed evolution, rather than through a special act of creation as the account in Genesis states), the Biblical flood was a local event, not a global event, the "days" in Genesis are figurative "eras" and not literal days, and so on. I haven't studied the system so much, but I think that's a fair summary. AIG has some FAQs on it, you may be able to find more on their site.
The main problem with it is that it's an unbiblical philosophy. That's what the Refuting Compromise book is largely about. To give one example, the Bible teaches that death came into the world through Adam's sin, yet for progressive creation to be true there would have been death for millions of years before Adam existed. For another example, it's an unjustified exegesis to interpret the "days" in Genesis as meaning "eras" instead of literal days.
Plus, I personally think it's silly for them to accept evolution as true... I'm jaded after thinking about and studying these things for long, but evolution seems patently absurd to me... I don't know why Christians, of all people, would choose to believe in it.
Anyway, I hope this answers your question.

Isn't it annoying how people sometimes assume that evolution is the accepted theory for the origin of life and that everyone they're talking to agrees?
As a Christian I think it's difficult to consider anything other than God actually creating & designing us. Evolution just seems to be a dirty hack so people don't have to believe in a God. There are still many unanswered questions of course, but if the theory that we evolved from soup over zillions of years is true, then I'd have to become an atheist. I know that many Christians happily accept evolution but there are too many conflicts with Christianity for it to make sense.

Ummmm.... What is "progressive creationism"?
