TV Season Premieres

Cool, here's an awesome prime time grid (here's another one) for the upcoming season.

Shows I'm looking forward to:

  • Enterprise - 9/10 at 8pm on UPN
  • Friends - 9/25 at 8pm on NBC
  • Smallville - 10/1 at 8pm on The WB
  • Angel - 10/1 at 9pm on The WB
  • 24 - Tuesday 10/28 at 9pm on Fox

Others:

  • Jake 2.0 - 9/10 at 9pm on UPN
  • Wonderfalls - sometime midseason
  • Boomtown - 9/26 at 10pm on NBC

Update: Alias, which I've never seen before, is Sunday, 9/28, at 9pm on ABC.

keith,

what is smallville about? I've never watched it, because I never watch the WB, but something tells me it might be watching... so give me a quick summary of what it's about and why it's worth watching would ya? Quick... couple of sentences, nothing big, just a quick idea...

Well, mainly because it's Superman. I really like the premise of the show, that it's Superman growing up, learning to use his powers, etc., and Tom Welling plays it really well. People have compared the show to X-Files, and here's a great description of the show (blogged here).

Some of the episodes are actually very good. I especially liked the season finale of season one and the season premiere of season two (it was a "to be continued"). Other episodes are just mediocre, but I stay with it because it's Superman, and I like the flavor of the show, which is similar to Buffy in some respects. You have super-powers, teen angst, and beautiful people. In addition, some of the interaction between the characters is excellent, like between Lex and his father, and between Clark and Lex. Lex, played by Michael Rosenbaum, is awesome, and the fact that Lex and Clark are good friends is an interesting twist -- the show is presumably leading up to where that changes.

I'd recommend giving the show a chance to see if you like it. Probably the best metric I can give is that if you liked Buffy, you've a chance of liking Smallville.
