Don't forget to watch The Elegant Universe tonight on NOVA on PBS from 8-10.
I'll be watching this instead of 24 tonight because my dad's not going to be home. So I'm watching NOVA and recording 24... argh.
Update: It was pretty good. I learned two things... I didn't know there were so many elementary particles, and I didn't know that if you have a compass in a lightning storm it goes all wonky because of the relationship between electricity and magnetism.
Interestingly, my professor at Harvard was one of the people they interviewed and he was on the show a few times. I was like, "Hey, I know that guy!"
Anyway, if you missed it, they're replaying it a bunch of times over the next week or so. Check your local listings
Also, keep in mind that this is a miniseries, so there'll be future episodes as well.
Don't forget to watch the season premiere of 24 tonight. Fox, 8-9pm 9-10pm, without commercial interruption thanks to Ford (no, not like in Brave New World).
I'm psyched.
Yes! This is exactly why I want to rewrite my CMS in Python.
Really, foo['bar'] and foo.bar and foo.bar() and foo('bar')[1] are essentially the same thing. Javascript unifies some of these, other languages like Ruby and Eiffel unify others. Languages like Python (I'll have to check Ruby) give you enough convenience methods that you can make all of these behave identically.
If I were ever to design a language, I'd try to make all of these syntactic sugar for the same construct. And for good templating, it's important to not have to worry about how your smurfs are implemented.
Footnotes:
[1]: and, the horror, (foo 'bar)
ONLamp.com: Introducing mod_python. mod_python sounds extremely powerful. I want it.

I knew you were going to say that....
