South Park is awesome

Oh my God, South Park is a freaking amazing show. Holy crap. Oh my gosh. Wow. I can't believe I don't watch every week.

Forking in Python

Via Simon, Python: How to fork and return text from the child process

Nothing original here, but there are a couple of quirks, so I'm going to write it up in case anyone else is looking for how to do this. The process is the same as in C.

Why?

Sometimes, inside an application, for some reason you don't want to run something in-process. Maybe you don't trust the code you're running and want to use ulimit to restrict it from allocating too much memory or opening too many files, or maybe it Just Doesn't Work in-process.

Neil Cavuto

VodkaPundit links to Neil Cavuto's statement I heard on Fox News today.

Machine language for beginners

Awesome. Via Adam, Machine Language For Beginners

It IS a tired argument

Wunderkinder.org: What a tired argument.

One of the great characterizations of Bush from the anti-war left is that he's a crook who "stole" the election. Can you people stop acting like idiots? Are you in fact idiots? Have you ever heard of the electoral college that, rather than the popular vote, determines the outcome of our presidential elections? Does this matter? Or are you more concerned about voter irregularity in Florida (certainly not intentional, but certainly one of the reasons Bush won)? If so, may I rehash another of your tired arguments, that holds intellectual consistency kind above all other arguments. I declare RICHARD NIXON the president elected in 1960. Kennedy was an UNELECTED BOY-PRINCE! And it was even worse, since Kennedy almost certainly bought Illinois.

Programming quickies

Changes to CMS - testing

Yay. Now my entire site is run by my CMS Smiley I mean stuff like my programming page is run through my CMS, whereas it wasn't before.

Some programming links

Via hitormiss.org, Making PHP Applications Cache-Friendly.

Also, via SourceForge, check out On Board C

The OnBoard Suite is a C-language development environment that runs on and creates executables for the Palm OS. The OnBoard Suite creates stand-alone, fully-fledged PRCs with no need for run time libraries. OnBoard Suite comes with OnBoard C (a C compiler), a built-in assembler, SrcEdit (a programmer's editor), Sherpa (a palm-to-host porting tool) and documentation.

Some Iraq links before bedtime

Via Adam, Slate.com: Unprecedented Logic: Why slippery-slope arguments against invading Iraq don't hold water

And from John at Right Wing News .com, Do You Want To See The Type Of People Bush Has To Deal With?, and Remember Where You Stood Before The War Started

John also links to Tony Blair's excellent speech to the House of Commons.

Plus, read the comments to this post (same one I linked above) on Right Wing News. They're right!

Via InstaPundit, a great and long rant about why we should go to war. Plus, a link to this article on all the many nations that back war with Iraq. Unilateral my ass.
