James Snell has some harsh words for the U.N. And he's right on.
The U.N. has failed to live up to its own Charter. It refuses to enforce its own resolutions in order to protect the status quo. It ignores the suffering of the Iraqi people in order to protect the status quo. It considers the lack of conflict between nations more important than the guarantee of freedom for all individuals in all nations. In short, the U.N. has become a collection of impotent bureaucrats unwilling to back up its own will. In fact, over the past decade, the U.N. has failed to demonstrate that it even HAS a will beyond maintaining the status quo.
Plus, a criticism which hits home, and is also exactly right. Listen up!
Another failure has been made on the part of the American people. As a whole, we have failed to realize that the Constitution trumps the United Nations. And the Constitution requires that the President protect the United States from all enemies. The Constitution does not require the President to seek U.N. permission to protect the country against what the President perceives to be a threat.
This is taking too damn long, and things are getting worse. Oh, and I heard today that the Pentagon dispatched a contingent of lawyers to the Middle East to counsel our troops on the legality of their actions. "Mr. General, if you bomb Iraq's weapons factory that Saddam built under that hospital, it'll be a war crime". Aaaaargh...
AAaaaaaaaaaaaahhhh. Via Snellspace, Halo 2 won't be released until 2004. I've been looking forward to Halo 2 for awhile. Sigh.
"This game is a vast undertaking, considerably more complex than any of our previous efforts, and there is just no way to squeeze all of the necessary work into this calendar year," said the company.
"We know many of you were hoping to get your hands on Halo 2 during the holiday season, and we're sorry to disappoint you - but making this game as good as we possibly can is our paramount concern."
Bungie is promising more action and weapons, better graphics and a multi-player option to face other gamers on Microsoft's Xbox Live service.
And check out their description of Halo 2.
"Halo 2 is a lot like Halo, only it's Halo on fire, going 130 miles per hour through a hospital zone, being chased by helicopters and ninjas," said Jason Jones, the head of Bungie Studios when he announced the sequel in August 2002.
I heard a really funny parody of "All the things she said" today on Z100.
It went something like... well, I started to write it out, but it looks really weird if you're not familiar with the group, the original song, and the parody, sooo, never mind. Suffice it to say that I found out that tATu is the first result for Russian Lesbians on Google.
Anyway, if anyone knows where I can get either an mp3 of the parody or at least the lyrics, please send it over. The parody was really funny.
Pinging weblogs.com sucks. It takes forever to ping.
Well, if I'm ever looking for more political blogs to read, I now know where to go.
From John, Should You Become A Democrat?
As a service to RWN's readers, I have prepared the following 25 questions to help people determine if they should join the Democratic party. Feel free to share it with friends and family members and if they find themselves answering "yes" to most of the questions below, then the Democrats are the party for them.
He also has a great idea for a commercial campaign for the 2004 elections.
