Yeah, they did replace the guns with walkie talkies. I'm a big fan of leaving the original alone -- same thing with the first three Star Wars movies. Some of the changes they made weren't so bad, honestly, but most of them I'd rather not have in there. Worst change of all: they changed the music in the end scene of Return of the Jedi. That's evil.

That is pretty evil, but I consider the worst change to be where they make it so Han Solo doesn't shoot right away in that one scene (I'm sorry, I blanked on the specifics, but you probably know what I'm talking about), that literally changes the whole meaning and impact of that scene. Thanks to the change he's just acting in self defense, not being a badass mofo.

It's when they're escaping from Billie D. Williams' pad with Princess Leia, right?

I believe so, yeah.

I thought it was in the first one, when he was with that grebo in the bar before they leave tatooine (sp?). I saw it the other day when it was on TV and remember thinking, I'm sure that grebo didn't get a shot off first in the original.

And this is why you should get your remember me feature thing fixed, so when I fill in forms it doesn't automatically autocomplete with my e-mail address.

It still worked after I tossed my cookies as well. Try that. Want me to fix your e-mail address thing?

Yeah, and didn't they take the guns off the cops in the movie and replace them (digitally) with walkie talkies?
That's really lame.
I actually own the original VHS run of ET though, and I never opened it (yes, really), because I was afraid of that alien as a kid. I got it as a Christmas present, screamed and hid it under my bed for years. I found it when I moved off to college some time ago and stowed it away in my closet in a box.
