I just caught the end of Thunderbolt with Jackie Chan, and it ruled.
I think 7-zip might be my new main zip program. I zipped a directory tree of 514 mb and 7-zip zipped it to 287 mb while PowerArchiver (version 6.11.0, what I currently use) zipped it to 317, a difference of 30mb. I'm not sure which one compressed faster though.
Update, I compressed the same directory tree using the 7-zip format, and I made a "solid archive" (which is like a tar.gz instead of a .zip, if you know what I'm talking about), and the file wound up being only about 86 megs! It took forever to compress though. 7-zip seems to be much slower than other compression programs, even when 7-zip is using normal zip compression. But, it seems to be faster at browsing an existing archive, and my version of PowerArchiver choked on things that 7-zip had no problem with.
Unfortunately, I don't have Winzip installed on my system, so I can't compare it to these results.
