Keith nailed wxBasic pretty well - the goal is to provide a QBasic-like grammar glued to the wxWindows library.
One design decision was to have wxBasic stick as closely to the C++ syntax as possible - there is a new constructor, and **~object()** destructor. This means you can read the existing documentation, and it'll probably work with little modification.
wxLua is an excellent scripting language - if you prefer Lua to BASIC, by all means use it!
To get wxBasic to work like BBC BASIC would require adding line numbers... shudder Sorry, not going to happen.

If only it smelt a little less like QuickBasic and more like BBC BASIC--the one true BASIC.
