Writing the same program 5 times

You know, writing the same program five times in different languages is just not fun at all. I didn't think it would be this bad, but it's really a pain in the butt.

I once broke a whole load of php code, all because I was using the wrong sort of commenting. Hilarious fun.

Isn't .NET supposed to fix that with their 'IL' ...

He's not writing the program for different platforms, he's intentionally writing the same program in different languages (some of which do work cross-platform, however), so your wise-crack isn't properly placed.

I do feel your pain, since I am a fan of the .NET architecture, and I'm waiting for MS to actually release some development tools for non-Windows that are worth a damn. Time for them to put their money where their mouth is, so to speak.

Theoretically, I'm supposed to bring up the rear and write a version of this very same mystery program in yet another language that Keith hasn't done to check architecture approaches.
