Hey, I just found your blog post while googling. I've launched a website/wiki called http://www.WellDesignedUrls.org whose mission is to "Provide best practices for URL design, and to raise awareness of the importance of URL design especially among providers of server software and web application development tools."

Please check it out, and if you are so inclined, please consider contributing to the wiki.
