A navigational tool should be considered as anything, which offers a user help for navigation beside of the URL input field and hyperlinks within a text - which usually are placed by the author manually. So there is a good chance that on dynamic web sites these tools should be automatically generated by the system, so developers of content management systems may meet the designers here. This article explains a number of common elements for web design.
