A wrong number on your cell phone is one of the worst things ever.

Slashdot: Science in the Microwave Smiley How to build yourself a One Atmosphere Plasmoid. Not in my microwave you don't.

Quotes of the day from my brother: "Dude, I can fit a guitar pick up my nostril!!"

It turned out to be a tiny one though, so my brother's a poser.
"If the edges [of a full-sized one] weren't so sharp I could do it".

"If just hurts to shove it up there, unlike you I'm not accustomed to shoving things in my orifices."

Via Slashdot, the largest computational problem solved with DNA to date. "A 'DNA computer' has been used for the first time to find the only correct answer from over a million possible solutions to a computational problem. Leonard Adleman of the University of Southern California in the US and colleagues used different strands of DNA to represent the 20 variables in their problem, which could be the most complex task ever solved without a conventional computer. The researchers believe that the complexity of the structure of biological molecules could allow DNA computers to outperform their electronic counterparts in future."

Darn, just realized I never blogged this (I had a link sitting on my desktop). WebMD: Chiropractic Neck Treatments Increase Risk of Stroke.

What Rothwell and colleagues actually found, says Powers, "is over a period of six years -- in all of Ontario -- six patients under age 45 who had chiropractic manipulation within one week of stroke. So this is very, very rare; it causes very few strokes. If you get your neck manipulated, your chances are very, very low of getting it ... but still, about five times higher than if you didn't."

Powers says that for years he has advised against chiropractic manipulation. "When people ask me, I specifically say that it's OK to get your lower back manipulated, but don't let them mess with your neck," she tells WebMD.

I have to ask my chiropractor about this.

Damn, Yates wasn't given the death penalty, but instead sentenced to life in prison. It annoys me to no end that the taxpayers of this country have to pay to support the life of murderers while they spend decades in jail.

CNN: Pentagon: Missile defense test successful. "The Pentagon's Missile Defense Agency said its sixth test of its missile defense system Friday was a success, meaning it intercepted an intercontinental ballistic missile in space about 30 minutes after it was launched."

I just saw Showtime. Awful awful movie.
