If you end up GPL'ing your program, I'd advice you to take the licensing quiz about GPL and LPGL at http://www.gnu.org/cgi-bin/license-quiz.cgi ; and furthermore, think of the consequences of the correct answers ;-)

Hope it doesn't feel like I'm spreading FUD here, but I just happen to think that these license issues are a big mess which I wouldn't want to be part of. In my opinion you're best of with BSDish license or even with public domain, but like I said, I just don't want to take part with all this fuss.

There are certain requirements I want to meet. I suppose I just have to find out which of the open source licenses meet the criteria, and write my own if none do I really don't have a good grasp on copyright law or any of this, unfortunately. Time to do some reading.
