I think it's definitely time for me to grab a cold beer and take a hot bath. Ohhh yeah.
Neat info on lgf, Many Taliban and Al Qaeda prisoners in Afghan jails are pleading, "We want to go to an American prison!" The best is this statement in the article, from a Taliban prisoner: "The United States should help us. How can the world ignore us?" pleaded Maqsoud Khan, 26, who is among about 1,100 Pakistani prisoners in Shibergan."
I saw this yesterday on Slashdot, but was thinking about it today and it seemed more significant today than I thought yesterday. Ellison says Oracle's 'whole business' to run on Linux. There's lots of interesting discussion over on the Slashdot post too.
From an ad on Slashdot, these are some awesome programming problems from ITA Software. I must be a lame programmer, I'm not sure how I'd go about solving either of the first two problems. And I'm don't even know what the last question is asking! I'll never be a real programmer
Ok, I'm trying to come up with a simple parser for a simple markup language, sort of like this, but with more features, including lists, but maybe not as complicated as some Wikis.
The two main goals are simplicity and "not-get-in-the-way-ness". I want the parser to be simple and fast, and most of all I want to make sure that the markup language doesn't get in the way of what you want to say. Hopefully it'll produce valid HTML too
I should really look at how phpwiki does its formatting.
lgf: the photo ID that wasn’t. "Next time I have to renew my driver’s license I’m going to claim my religion requires me to wear Mickey Mouse ears and a scuba mask."
Great comment by Sean too: "Oddly enough, she wouldn't be allowed to drive at all in militantly Islamic countries."
Hey, I'm sorry your blog awards didn't work out man.
Oh, and by the way, the new layout is better. Whatever you were doing with the old one made it load really slowly in my browser. It was weird. Loads faster now.
Hey, cool. Dwight finds wisdom in the Bible. God's a good Author, he is.
Via Scripting.com, A tale of one man and his blog. "It is not often you can say a website has changed the face of the web, and had an impact far beyond the confines of its own domain. But, for many, Blogger is such a site."
Via Scripting.com, Don's Amazing Puzzle really is interesting. Here's the MetaFilter discussion about it. Try it yourself and see what happens.
