Via Erik, a link to Bob McWhirter talking about Gilgul, a Java language extension that does this:
One of the key features seems to be allowing an object reference to actually be a reference-to-a-reference but still used without the programmer being aware of the double indirection.
For those of you with C/C++ backgrounds, gilgul seems to add pointer to a pointer with automagic deference semantics.
I need to see some code to see what problems this will solve. Wait a minute, I thought I linked to Gilgul before... I know I've come across it before... but where?
Via Erik, via Jim Hughes, code for the Tiny Encryption Algorithm. I want to learn more about this when I have the time.
Update: That link seems to have broken, so try here and here
I have the most time to study for the final I need to study for the least.
"Well, enough of the serious, sappy stories. It's time for some unexplainable stupidity - which is why we come to the internet in the first place, isn't it?"
Wow, Artima.com seems like a really great site. They have a lot of great interviews, and a lot of neat stuff in general. After a few seconds of looking at the site, I'm like "please say this site has an RSS feed"... and they do. Two of them in fact. Good job guys.
Watch out when you blow your nose while you're peeing. You might poop your pants if you're not careful.
Whenever I get around to finishing the next version of my StructuredText parser (which is like last on my long list of projects), I'm going to have a feature that does automatically highlighted acronyms. So if you type "HTML" it'll put an HTML acronym tag around it that says "HyperText Markup Language". You get it, you've seen these before... no biggie. But what annoys me is when you use the same acronym a bunch of times in your post and it gets highlighted every time. Not necessary. So my implementation will by default only highlight the first occurrence.
Programmers are Speshal, via Erik. Leads to a great little essay, Programmers, by Mark Pasc. The part of this article on The Nature of Programming, via Matt Croydon, goes real well here.
I think the buttons on my mouse are starting to go. So it's probably time for me to invest in a really good ball-less mouse that'll hopefully last a long time, be really comfortable, and be nice and accurate for gaming. Any suggestions? Right now I'm browsing ThinkGeek.
Via ResearchBuzz, two new Google features, Google WebQuotes and Google Viewer. The webquotes seems much more interesting and useful... how do they do this stuff?
Hey, also check out Froogle, via Dane Carlson
Interesting comments on marketing fix about Froogle. Via inluminent.
