Spammers should have their mouse fingers cut off

It looks like e-mail harvesting software has finally gotten smart enough to parse entity encoded e-mail addresses on web pages. I've started getting my first spam to my e-mail address that I know was harvested from my web site.

I may have to make some changes... I may take my e-mail address off my site altogether, and to protect people who leave comments I'll have to do something about protecting their e-mail addresses.

Well, even before you had your comments system up harvesters were getting past the entity encoding trick. Spammers develop new ways to harvest emails just as quickly as we think of ways to prevent it.

The only way I know of that you can protect your address is by using contact forms. Otherwise, you're just going to have to accept that somehow, some way, the spammers will find out how to get a hold of your email address.
