I've been wrestling with HP's DLA software all day. DirectCD didn't work right anymore, so I tried HP's DLA software. That crashes the compter regularly. I've updated everything I was supposed to for Windows Me on my dad's laptop, but I still can't get my CD Writer 7500e to work right. It worked fine with Windows 98. Oh God, how I wish Microsoft had never released Windows Me.

There was no big story about it on CNN, but this story had the following news blip:

"Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf said Saturday he believes there is a "great possibility" that bin Laden is dead. Speaking on China Central Television during a trip to China, Musharraf said he was "reasonably sure" bin Laden was not in Pakistan."

Crazy news. Someone tried to blow up a plane in flight from Paris to Miami. He tried to light explosives in his shoes with a match, and everyone on the plane jumped on him and subdued him, two doctors sedated him, and the plane made an emergency landing in Boston. Read the story at CNN. Thankfully, no one was seriously hurt.

Cool! We just got Optimum Online cable! By a few preliminary estimates it seems to be about 50%-75% faster download than we had with our Earthlink DSL, and the upload is especially faster. We had real slow upload with DSL, only about twice modem speeds, if that. Most importantly, my dad will finally be able to get rid of the noise on his business phone line, and after we downgrade our DSL account to a simple 5 dollar a month dialup account (to keep our e-mail addresses) it'll be about 15 bucks a month cheaper than DSL was. The latency seems to be much better with cable... I can't wait to play Unreal.
