DeadAIM hasn't failed me once yet. Windows 98 sucks--think about upgrading to W2K, at least, if you're not gonna install the XP Corp that I wasted my time burning for you, hardcore boy.

I use the latest DeadAIM with the latest AIM beta and I never get a crash. My only quibble is that I wish I could set CTRL-w to close tabs like in Phoenix. I am so used to it and everytime I hit it the font options menu pops up. Meh, its either that or you have to deal with half of you buddy list being ads and stupid buttons you don't need, therefore obstructing the view of majority of your buddies.

Well, regardless of the stability of DeadAIM, if you're using Win98 still, you deserve what you get.

PS--(let's see if I get any heat for this)--after testing both browsers over the past month or so, I've found that Opera (7) provides a much more efficient browsing experience than Mozilla (1.3)--I mean, come on, you can't even launch a link into a tabbed window from the Mozilla sidebar; no fun 'Paste and go' address bar paste option in Mozilla; the ability to 'customize' the Mozilla sidebar is just cheesy (ooh, I have the option of viewing news, weather, and stock updates in the sidebar... big deal); finally, Mozilla craps out after you have twenty-or-so tabs open, whereas Opera will keep going strong until about fifty or so. Any thoughts?

I love Opera 7 :-) However.. some websites do not work in the program.. you just sit around waiting for it to load. IE is still a little more reliable.. however opera is very convient

I love opera 7. It's possibly the finest browser known to man. Right now I'm at my girlfriends and I'm using ie 5.0 and it's enough to make me cry. I miss opera.

Dead AIM really sucks now it used to crash alot.. for me it XP but I think it was becuase of a bad installion of WinXP. But now DeadAIM costs 4.99$ I mean sure it's cheap. But it's the fact behind it. I guess I live in a GNU/Linux free world..

HAHAHA sux that dead aim is charging i know but since gaim which is now available for windows and shares many of the same features is free and open source i wouldnt worry to much about jdennis getting greedy so if your with me switch over if he loses his users he will be forced to offer it free or even make it an open source project to let other people develope it along with him

I've actually spoke with JDennis about the whole $1.50 charge for the old version. Funny, just 1 month later we get a new version that you have to pay for again. The guy is a greedy bastard. His emails were quite curt and rude, he cares not what you think about it, he's got a popular peice of software and he's using it to make money. Phuk him. Knowledge is given to you by the people, and therefore should be given back to the people! Let knowledge be free!!!

$4.99 per copy isn't going to make him any money, and I doubt it even pays for the ammount of bandwidth he uses.

Geez, what happend to DeadAIM? It was free, but now it's $4.99!!? I mean, I don't want to pay $5 just to sign on 2 or 3 screen names at a time, this is, in my opinion absolutly ridiculous! I know I sound cheap, and with somethings I am, but I just don't see why I should have to pay for this. It's a cool service, but to me, definetly not worth it.

Get AIM+.
go onto google, and search for AIM+ and you will be able to download it. it doesn't have all the tabs and no ads, but it does have cloning and recording of conversations. otherwise it is pretty much the same as AIM. and most of all it's Free.
